A review stand only works if it opens the review box — the screen where a customer taps a star and types. The single most common setup mistake is pasting your Google listing link (the one that shows your profile) instead of the “write a review” link. The listing link makes customers hunt for the review button, and most give up.
Get the right link (fastest way)
- 1On a computer, go to your Google Business Profile and sign in.
- 2On your profile dashboard, click “Ask for reviews” (sometimes “Get more reviews”).
- 3Google shows a short link — copy it. It usually looks like
https://g.page/r/…/review. - 4Paste that into your Smart Page’s Public review URL field.
No Business Profile handy?
- 1On your phone, open Google Maps and search your business.
- 2Tap your business, scroll to Reviews, and tap “Write a review.”
- 3Once the star box opens, use Share to copy that exact URL.
How to tell it’s right
- •✅ Good: the link opens straight to the stars (often
g.page/r/…/review). - •⚠️ Wrong: the link opens your profile/listing (e.g.
google.com/maps/place/…ormaps.app.goo.gl/…) — customers land on your page but not the review box.
When you paste a link that looks like a listing, the editor will warn you so you can fix it before you print. Not on Google? The same idea works for Yelp or Facebook — use their “write a review” link, not the main page.
